Confessional Corner: "Stuff Always Happens to Us."
When you're a Kardashian, being a magnet for chaos makes you notorious and rich. When you're a random woman navigating the attention economy, it might make you a little cringe
The confessional corners are basically going to be diary entries! You guys decided you liked my critical theory about the Kardashians enough to be here now, which means you’re also stuck with me whenever I feel like being a dog at a computer (which is to say, write aimlessly about whatever has come to mind at that time).
I’m thinking about how much of my life I’m allowed to tell you about.
More importantly: how much do I want to tell you?
How, exactly, should a Person on the Internet — especially one who unironically read and admired Prozac Nation in 2005 and harbored fantasies throughout college of becoming a memoirist — manage their self-exposure?
(Are memoirists — who sorta had a heyday in the early 90s till the early 2000s — even necessary in today’s landscape of photo dumps and essayistic captions? Everyone’s a memoirist in 2022; they’re just doing it through fractured forms: Reddit, IG, TikTok, Twitter, whatever else)
Lest we forget Reality TV and the culture it created!
