Thoughts on the process: I write this from my allergist’s gloomy waiting room. We’re at the stage in the deadline when the computer needs to come everywhere with me and I’ll add a little bit here, a little bit there, during any scraps of downtime, regretting that I didn’t opt to buy the lighter MacBook five years ago because this machine is really too heavy to lug all over New York City.

Sometimes I find this approach suspect — can someone really make a dent in their attempt at a TOME in their…spare time?
