The Kardashians Episode 3 Recap
Lucky number 3 was probably the most entertaining episode to date, but not necessarily for all the reasons The Kardashians intended.
“Live From New York” was one the most entertaining Kardashians episode to date, and not even because of its flashy SNL moments.
(though I did find myself wondering: could they have even come back at all without the punchy SNL storyline to premiere with?)
Editing-wise, the episode delivered many of the little Kardashian quirks that made early Keeping Up with the Kardashians thrive. I’m particularly pleased with my analysis on the episode for Vogue, so stay tuned for that. In the meantime, here are my takeaways about everything else.
1. Kris and Khloe arrive in New York. They promptly commence their part in pronouncing SNL’s cultural relevance by dutifully mentioning its media mythology in the same way they regularly recite their own. If we were to view Kim’s hosting gig as an Instagram partnership for the grid — I’m picturing one of those mutually shared “collab” posts — this particular post packs a punch. It indicates — in the unlikely event there had been any remaining doubt — that this is the era of Kim’s elevated collabs.
Kim x Olympics, Kim x Fendi, Kim x Donda, and now Kim x SNL. Kim has covered the most elite of sports, fashion, music, and comedy. What comes next?
